Dr. Rizwan Chaudhry is a highly-skilled and advanced laparoscopic, bariatric ,and general surgeon. Certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Chaudhry practised at the most prestigious institutions in the United States before starting his practice in Houston.
He completed his General Surgery residency at the world-famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and gained a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery from the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
Dr. Chaudhry serves as Medical Director of the Weight Loss Institute at Bay Area Regional Medical Center. After just a year under his leadership, the facility earned accreditation for being a Comprehensive Center for Bariatric Surgery from the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons.
In 2016, he was named ‘Top Bariatric Surgeon’ in the Houston Bay Area by The Bay Area Citizen newspaper.

BEFORE
When you agree to have the treatment, we will schedule the surgery on a date that suits you. Before the date of the procedure you will need to attend a pre-operative appointment.
DURING
The procedure usually takes Dr Chaudhry around 60 minutes. After making small incisions in the abdomen, approximately 70% of the stomach will be removed leaving a smaller, tube shaped stomach with natural openings at the top and bottom. It looks a bit like a sleeve, hence the name Gastric Sleeve.
AFTER
We provide outstanding after care services for all patients. A 1-night stay in hospital will be required after surgery with most patients able to go home the next day.
With the help of Dr. Chaudhry and a Registered Dietician, your new diet will be set for you to follow after surgery. Dr. Chaudhry will see you a week to 10 days after your surgery and remain heavily involved during your recovery to ensure you get the best results.
You should expect to see him about 4 times during the first year following your surgery. These follow-up visits ensure progress is being made and all your questions or concerns are addressed.
